Shani Mahama

General Secretary

Shani Mahama is the General Secretary of AfriCAN. Shani is a Ghanaian-Danish national with incredible experience and understanding of international development cooperation and how to make development responsive to community needs. Shani has worked as Development Advisor, Lecturer at the University for Development Studies in Ghana, a Teacher at a Danish Folk School, a Freelance Consultant facilitating community development processes in Denmark and in Ghana. Shani has experience from both Danish and Ghanaian NGOs and has successfully facilitated establishment of various NGOs in Ghana and Denmark.

Dorothy Antwi Boasiako

Communication Manager

Dorothy has a Master of Arts degree in African Studies, Master of Arts (Literature in English), and a Bachelor of Arts (English and Sociology). Dorothy is an ambitious and creative professional who is eager to provide professional experience in the development sector and bring her rich vein of knowledge into promoting AfriCAN and diaspora issues in Denmark and Scandinavia. Dorothy is engaging, confident and well versed in project management and implementation. She is innovative and works best as a key team player. She excels at task assigned and is proficient in capacity building, excellent communication skills and is keen to apply existing knowledge for institutional growth.

Farida Nakanwagi

Project and Partnership Manager

Farida has an MSc in Development and International Relations, BA in Journalism Social healthcare professional. Farida has experience in radio and TV in Uganda, capacity development of women integration projects in the Ishøj Municipality in Greater Copenhagen and women of Uganda. Farida is a member of the board as a supplementary member, but she sees much value in the project management and administration team and has taken up the role of Partnership Management Officer and exploring partnerships in East Africa.

Yvonne Twum

Volunteer Manager

Yvonne has an MSc in International Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. I am incredibly interested in climate and environment issues that involves more human interactions to address global challenges. I have a genuine interest in dialectic approaches. On my spare-time I like to think and read about business and political economy of international development. I have more affinity for institutions geared towards development work and I hope to influence investment in marginalized populations. Besides these, I like to travel and explore different cultures globally.
